HOC Meal Report

On August 31st, 34 guests were served generous helpings of ham & potato soup, grilled cheese or tuna salad sandwiches, green beans w/bacon, raw carrots, mixed fruit cups, tortilla chips w/salsa or cheese, frosted cake, milk and coffee.

Thanks to Jo, Tom and John who provided food or funds; Vi, Diane, Loren, Savannah, Darla, Tom & Jo who helped with the meal. Young ones are always welcome as they bring smiles to guests and volunteers as well. Mark your calendar for Sept. 28 to join in the fun and fellowship next time.

SS Appreciation and Bible Presentation

On 10/1/17 the Christian Education Committee will be hosting a Sunday School Appreciation Breakfast for the entire church. We would like to have this in place of Sunday School this day.   Also during the worship service on 10/1/17 we will be presenting our 5th grade youth with a Bible. Invitations will be sent to the youth and family.

LIBRARY LEDGE – Humor

Humor – We all need a little laugh in our life.  Quite often it appears around kids, animals or a look at ourselves.  With the kids back in school, now would be a good time to sit back & take in a little humor.  Rest, God has your back.

Volunteer Opportunity

Do you enjoy meeting new people? Do you like to make people smile? We have the place for you! The House of Compassion is seeking a few good people to help staff our Supply Closet. This is a room at HOC where families come monthly to pick out 3 non-food items and a bonus item to take home. The main requirements are to have a pleasant smile, know the alphabet and occasionally to be able to stock and organize the shelves of supplies.

Our current openings are Tuesday mornings 10:00-12:00 and Thursday afternoons 1:00-4:15. There will always be someone else in the office with you. If you have questions or are interested in helping, contact Karen or Maryna at HOC 641-752-5999.  Even if you can’t commit to each week, we may be able to match you with someone else, so please call. You’re sure to receive a blessing when you volunteer at HOC!
